Tell me about deep tissue massage?
This is a massage that works deep in to your muscles, breaking down the muscle fibres. This allows them space to reform thus helping with pain relief and discomfort.
NB This massage includes a lingam massage but otherwise is not relaxing due to the deep pressure. If you’d like something to make you feel like you’ve had an afternoon of relaxation in an hour, have a look at the sensual massage.
Why would I get a deep tissue massage?
If you’re doing a lot of sports and your muscles feel tight then a deep tissue massage will usually be of help for you.
Likewise if you have pain that has been going on for a long time, it’s fairly likely that this will be deep rooted and so a deep tissue massage will help.
There are some conditions that deep tissue massage is known to help
Chronic muscle pain.
Recovery from injuries.
Strains. And sprains
Repetitive strain injuries e.g. Carpal tunnel syndrome.
Break down scar tissue.
Muscle tension and spasm.
Pain from osteoarthritis.
Inflammatory pain e.g. Tendinitis.
Stress relief and stress-
Headaches and migraines
What’s the point of getting a deep tissue massage?
To break down muscle fibres with deep pressure. This also releases blocked toxins in the muscles which helps with overall health and well being.
What’s the treatment room like?
You’ll be in a calm and comfortable room in Essex for your session with soft lighting. Thermostatic controlled underfloor heating means we keep the temperature neither too hot nor too cold.
So what happens during my deep tissue massage?
Depending on how long you book, we’ll be able to cover off either an area such as your back, neck and shoulders in an hour, or 1.5 hours to include another area such as legs. In 2 hours we can fit in a full body massage.
A deep tissue massage takes longer than a swedish massage because your muscles need to be sufficiently warmed up before you can work them deeply.
At the end of your massage you’ll receive a lingam massage which is a massage of your genitals. There’s more information on that here.
What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?
Lie back and relax. You don’t need to second guess anything, as we’ll move you if needed so you get the best out of your session.
This isn’t a particularly relaxing massage though as a deep tissue massage aims to correct tissue damage.
If you want something more relaxing then our most popular massage is the sensual massage.
How will I feel after a deep tissue massage?
You may feel tired or relaxed after your massage, or even sometimes emotional, however, most people will then feel rejuvenated and full of energy. You may experience some aches and pains for around 48 hours after your treatment as the body flushes the toxins that have been released. In order to speed this process along, drink lots of water after your massage.
How often will I need a treatment?
Most likely 2 or 3 treatments will be sufficient to achieve a long lasting relief from most conditions. However, this will be dependent on your problem & your lifestyle and some people may required further treatments. We do encourage you to return occasionally though for maintenance treatments.
Why would I not be able to have a massage?
There are some conditions that we wouldn’t recommend a deep tissue massage for. We can advise on the best choice for you.
Please ensure you let your therapist know of any conditions you have.
The following conditions would not be suitable:
People prone to blood clots. There is a risk of blood clots being dislodged. If you have heart disease, check with your doctor before having a massage
Immediately after chemotherapy or radiation, unless recommended by your doctor
Infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds
Immediately after surgery

If it’s the Essex/ London border what’s the traffic like?
